The intervention should be made as painless as possible |
Emotional responses and judgmental comments should be forborne |
When the patient is receiving treatment outside of child and adolescent psychiatry, she/he should be supervised as long as the potential for imminent threat has not been assessed |
A child and adolescent consultation should be requested as soon as possible |
For patients already in therapy, contact with the therapist ought to be sought |
